Voice over Internet Protocol is set to overtake analogue telephony with Asterisk based PBX technology. VoIP gives us the capability to give multiple lines through one analogue with a single broadband connection. A typical 2Mb connection will give 6 extensions with reduced rate phone calls. This has been made possible by the introduction of SIP (System Initiation Protocol) giving a single phone line 10 SIP channels will allow the user to make 10 concurrent calls on this single line.
